Special Interest

Special Interest is a four-piece band from New Orleans that mixes their form of angry punk with techno and industrial rock textures and occasional post-punk references.  The wall of distortion generated by guitarist Maria Elena peaks fairly high, right into the Psychocandy (Jesus and Mary Chain) territory at times. Between that and the way the guitars are laid out on top of the hammering drums and distorted bass lines, their music tends to periodically drift into an early Nine Inch Nails type explosive industrial sound. Vocalist Alli Logout brings a lot of punk energy and presence to their performances. They are brash, bold, have a fairly well-defined sound, and they play like they are on a mission.
