Nala Sinephro

Harpist, pianist, keyboard player, and composer Nala Sinephro is an artist who takes ambient jazz as her starting point then adds layers of spiritual jazz on top. Her music is experimental, without placing any particular emphasis on it. Being born to parents who happen to be a Belgian classical pianist and a French Caribbean jazz saxophonist, her sound is often tugged in those directions. She maintains a fascinating balance in her albums, where a contemplative, introverted ambient base weaves through waves of soulful and somewhat restless jazz. The sense of serenity that the ambient half of her music evokes, combined with the harp and delicate horn work contributed by her guest artists, stands in contrast with her sharp synth lines.
