Macie Stewart

Macie Stewart is a singer-songwriter, violinist, and multi-instrumentalist, who has been one half of Finom (formerly, Ohmme), her duo with Sima Cunningham, as well as a collaborator for an interesting range of artists, including SZA, The Weather Station, and Claire Roussay. What emerges in her solo work is an artist who tends to gravitate towards exquisite ballads with subtle shadings which sharply deviates from her track record with Finom. The band's rhythmic thrust and off-kilter melodies are replaced by wall-to-wall lyricism, earnestness, and emotional contours, which allows her fine craft as a composer and arranger to come much closer to the surface. Her joint album with Lia Kohl goes more in the direction of avant-garde and modern music.
