Tomberlin

(Sarah Beth) Tomberlin is an indie folk singer-songwriter with soft songs delivered in hushed tones and sparse arrangements. Her early work was highly sedate in nature, where her voice was accompanied by a basic acoustic guitar or piano. This changed a bit on her 2020 EP Projections, leading to her current sound, which opens up a lot of space around her voice with gentle, repeating patterns matched against subtle melodic elements. Her songs still have the same quiet and unassuming posture. They do not jump at the listener and grab their attention with sparkling melodies or clear hooks, but rather they work their way gradually by setting the mood and letting it all flow in its time. There are times she rocks it up a bit but does so without moving away from her core dynamics.
