Finom
Outline
Finom, who was known as OHMME previously, is a band from Chicago formed by two classically trained multi-instrumentalist adventurous musicians, Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart. Their style can probably be described as indie rock assembled without following the instructions where the parts ended up in odd places, but the whole still makes perfect sense in an unconventional way and works just fine. Their ability to write catchy melodies that sound instantly familiar and even downright addictive tends to soften the edges of the angular and dissonant elements of their music. Same thing with their vocal harmonies, which sound completely locked in and add more body to their melodies. One of the things to focus on in their music is the interplay between the two musicians on their instruments, which is always spot on in execution. Their 2024 album Not God, sees the duo embrace a more straightforward, pop-inspired sound.
Previously, they went by OHMME and before that, Homme.
Always serve your experimental, off kilter music with a spoonful of sugar.
