The Weather Station is the stage name for singer/songwriter Tamara Lindeman, who came out from the Toronto folk scene. Her roots are in traditional folk, where she started out mostly fingerpicking her acoustic guitar and singing in her low key, small room voice. Her songwriting, which was always sharp, has gotten more sophisticated over time. As her delivery matured, her phrasing and vocal styling began to display well-placed Joni MItchell influences. She has been expanding her scope and working with a basic guitar/bass/drums 3 piece band, upping her tempo, and adding more orchestration and even some overtly jazzy elements over time. Her 2022 album How Is It That I Should Look At The Stars saw her revisiting the quieter and more intimate tones with her focus shifted to the piano.
