Lucy Dacus is a singer/guitarist/songwriter whose music has gravitated towards a softer and melodic form of indie rock in recent years, while her roots lie in a folk and country oriented sound. Quiet and wistful acoustic ballads seem to be the home base she likes to return to even though her music has become far more dynamic over the years, pushing closer to rock. Her songs have a strong personal angle, often dealing with various vignettes of her life. Her arrangements are thick and rich, but also with an underlying fragile layer that almost demands to be enjoyed in smaller settings and meant to be heard up close to the source. She has a velvety, soft, and warm voice that is quite hard to turn away from. She has been working with Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers in the trio, boygenius.
