Angel Olsen

Angel Olsen is an artist who carved herself a space in the indie folk world with her intimate songs and her emotionally resonant delivery. She has been going through some stylistic changes over the years: from country oriented songs to adopting basic indie rock elements on the slightly ragged side (peaking at My Woman), to embracing synth-driven atmospheric elements (see All Mirrors). All through these shifts, and as she continued to mature as a songwriter, the underlying pensive and melancholic tone of her music remained more or less a constant. Her songs are subtly melodic, and often absorbing and memorable. Her 2022 album Big Time sees Olsen going back to country and her contemplative, quieter folk roots as she gets more introspective.
