KEG
Outline
The band KEG starts with the classic post-punk sound, but then keeps on going in a somewhat jazzy and proggy direction. Weaving in and out of the spotlight is trombonist Charlie Keen, who injects subtle elements of jazz and some off-kilter energy into the music, providing a type of breadth to their sound that is hard to miss. The band plays with a general sense of curiosity, especially in the way they like taking their songs in unexpected directions. Just as they appear to be progressing along a straight line, they don't hesitate to veer off into an occasional side track. Their songs can be angular and angsty, philosophical and humorous, even chaotic and discordant as they move through their numbers, showcasing the band's range and potential.
