Jockstrap

Despite what the name might suggest, Jockstrap is not a rowdy punk band or a party-time fraternity act. Farthest from either, they are the London based partnership between vocalist, violinist Georgia Ellery (also see Black Country, New Road) and producer, keyboardist Taylor Skye, who create music that thrives in contrasts as the duo engages in classic mid-century pop with a hat tip to old school chamber music one minute, followed by grinding, distorted guitar sounds in the next, before diving head-first into club style electronic music that is at the verge of a hyperpop freak out. The duo handles this wild range as matter-of-factly as anyone can, basking in this odd stylistic tension they create, all of which is on display on their remarkable 2022 album I Love You Jennifer B.  In a true Jockstrap fashion, they released a dance remix of the album (I<3UQTINVU) the following year, with the whimsy factor turned all the way up.
