US Girls is the project of Toronto-based singer songwriter Meg Remy who currently makes off kilter edgy indie pop music that does not quite fit comfortably into the genre's norms. She started out as an avant garde artist with a tape recorder, constructing Throbbing Gristle-type music through a combination of electronic effects and tape loops (see 2010s Go Grey). All that eventually led to pop music with an experimental sensibility as she began to pay more attention to the art of songwriting in subsequent albums. She arrived at her current state in 2012 with the krautrock and glam-friendly Gem, which also saw Remy take a big leap in her craft. On 2020's Heavy Light, she began to discover the joys of a good dance beat, which carried over to her subsequent work. As a songwriter, she can create catchy melodies and give each of her songs a distinct personality.
