Cate Le Bon

Cate Le Bon (born Cate Timothy) is a Welsh indie pop artist whose songs are never quite straightforward pop songs. Her songs do have good hooks, clear melodies, and that extra special ingredient, which is the angular structures around that core, often with her guitar work, that feel like they are put together in odd angles that perhaps should not make sense, but they do. The effect is subtle in most songs, but could be a little jarring in some. She has a relaxed delivery on her vocals, which often has echoes of Nico in her early days with Velvet Underground, except Le Bon's is warmer and more expressive. Her songs are usually at the mid-tempo range, and they are quirky and idiosyncratic. She has been collaborating with an array of artists in joint projects.
