I Break Horses

I Break Horses is the vocalist, keyboardist, and producer Maria Lindén and drummer Fredrik Balck, who started out with a synth heavy shoegaze sound in 2011's Hearts, but then quickly moved into a fully synth driven combination of electronica, dream pop, and synth pop. Their music generally has a wide screen, cinematic feel with quite a sense of sorrow that permeates every corner. The expansive, melancholic flow they create pairs Lindén's breathy, steamy vocals with the big, sprawling sound that is pushed forward by her dynamic synth work.  The stretched backbeat pattern they use in their beats helps as a way to balance the ethereal nature of their songs and grounds them in something earthy.
