Hælos (also HÆLOS, or Haelos) is a band that plays mostly electronic music with a trip-hop bend. The vocals are not as ethereal as some of the standard-bearers of the genre, they are less laid-back, and they play at a higher tempo, but the trip-hop idioms are there underneath the electronic dance groove packaging. Other times, they venture into the piano-driven ballad territory with electronic embellishments. The outcome is a well-balanced pop that plays on a broad atmospheric scope that is driven by the groove as much as the melody, can be introspective without the navel-gazing, and remains stylistically self-restrained. The way the two lead singers, Lotti Benardout and Arthur Delaney trading vocals also adds to the overall texture of their work.
