Dan Deacon

Dan Deacon is a singer-songwriter and an electronic music artist who has also been fairly active in the area of movie soundtracks and creating contemporary classical music pieces. His music is often a mixture of full-on sonic pop blast and artsy synth layers with subtle narrative arcs woven into them. He typically works off of a pop framework and fills the gaps with lush arrangements based on electronic (or sometimes orchestral) instruments, leading to a big swell accompanied by some galloping beat. He also likes to noodle around with analog synths a lot. Given the cinematic nature of his music, it should not come as a surprise that he has been quite active in creating soundtracks for movies in between his regular musical output.
