Tamaryn

Tamaryn Brown, who goes by only Tamaryn, plays a style that falls somewhere between darkwave and synth pop, with shoegaze and dream pop elements that stay close to the surface. She started out with strong Cocteau Twins influences, gravitating towards the dreamier sides of the genre before she veered into synth pop in 2015's Cranekiss, which was engaging both melodically and with its atmospherics. Then her world darkened, so to speak, with Dreaming in the Dark (2019), as she moved closer to the gloomier shades of pop with clear references to '80s bands like Tears for Fears and Depeche Mode. The result is a hybrid body of work that has the potential to be hitting the spot for a diverse range of fans.
