Getdown Services

There are bands that are deadly serious. There are bands that are artistic, who also keep it light. And then there is Getdown Services. The duo of Ben Sadler and Josh Law, based in Bristol, clearly likes dance music across a spectrum, from old school, full on disco and seductive late night soul grooves to '80s synth pop and even occasional bursts of blues infused classic rock licks. Most of all, though, they are completely locked into a sense of fun, reflected in their lyrics as well, perhaps not all too surprising for a band that was born in the midst of the 2020 pandemic lockdown. Their songs are filled with humorous absurdist bits delivered with a sardonic deadpan, backed by biting commentary and observations in ways that often border on just plain silly and regularly crossing that line gleefully.
