Dancer

Dancer is a band of musicians whose paths have continually crisscrossed in different configurations in the Glasgow music scene. So the members had already built their chemistry with one another before they released their self-titled debut EP in 2023. There is a fair amount of jagged, angular post-punk in their songs that alternates with quick pick guitar lines flirting with math rock or jangling along their catchy melodies. Vocalist Gemma Fleet provides a focal point as she sings with restraint and adds warmth to the tunes. Occasionally she turns to speak-singing delivery with the kind of dryness that is not too far from Florence Shaw's work with Dry Cleaning.
