Pozi is a three piece post-punk band with hard driving, jagged and heavy bass lines, scrappy vocals, and (betcha you didn't see this coming) a violin. Band member Rosa Brook does all the fun things that a violinist can do: she screeches, wails, riffs, picks, and leads when she is not providing her nice melodic motifs, and she does all these without coming across as a novelty act in any way. Drummer Toby Burroughs leads on the vocals most of the time, and he brings a lot of the nervous, jittery energy to their music while bassist Tom Jones gives the band its funk, its swing, and its sway. Brook also takes over the lead vocals occasionally with her sweet and direct delivery. Their melodies are pared down and in line with the bare-bones simplicity of the late 70s early post-punk (see Television, early Public Image Ltd) capturing a similar sense of immediacy and anxiety.
