Brijean

Brijean is a duo that makes mid-tempo soft dance music. The musicians that collaborate on this project have complementary backgrounds, and they contribute to the overall sound evenly: Brijean Murphy is a session drummer, percussionist, and a DJ who has a variety of jazz and Latin rhythms and percussion techniques at her command. Doug Stuart grew up as a jazz musician and expanded into hip-hop and house music. The output is music filled with laid-back dance grooves, low-key disco references, smooth jazz-inspired musical phrases, Latin-inspired congas and other percussive instruments and syncopated beats. Murphy also handles the vocals with the kind of misty voice and a light touch that adds an occasional Sylvan Esso vibe to their music.
