Black Coffee is the stage name for Nkosinathi Maphumulo, who is a South African DJ and a producer with broad international acclaim and popularity in the Club/Dance world. His music comes with a strong backbeat as one would expect, including a heavy four-on-the-floor action, pulsating bass lines, and electronic instrumentation that continues to move the songs. There is usually nice synth work in his records, with an additional jazzy piano added in his 2021 album Subconsciously. His arrangements have a fully organic and warm feel, his beats are impeccably constructed, and his musical pieces (amounting to a remarkable catalog, incidentally), also work very well as individual pop songs beyond just being good dance floor numbers. Guest artists handle the vocals, and sometimes also collaborate on the composition of the pieces.
Black Motion, Sun-El Musician, Prince Kaybee, Elderbrook
Usher, Pharell Williams, Elderbrook, Cassie, Celeste, and that is just a few of his collaborators on his 2020 album. He has worked with a cast of a thousand stars throughout his catalog.
