Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Anna Butterss is a Los Angeles based bassist, multi-instrumentalist and composer. She is particularly a top-notch talent on the bass, electric or upright, and has been playing with a number of high end pop and jazz artists over the years. She released her first solo album, Activities, in 2022, where she presented her atmospheric and somewhat moody original work that is anchored in jazz. She remains more or less style-agnostic at this point, despite her overall affinity towards the fusion side of things, specifically in the way she adopts the '80s style with its pop overtones with some regularity. She also touches on some elements of post-rock, and does not mind stepping outside the conventional jazz forms.
