Wolf Alice is a versatile indie rock band whose music covers the range between fuzzy and loud, guitar driven rock and quiet, introverted acoustic ballads, and pretty much everything in between. They are good at putting together memorable melodic lines that stand out in a crowded field. There is a high level of song crafting that goes into their work regularly. They know when to push up the power and when to pull it back, where to place the hooks and how to calibrate them. They are a band that runs on sharp pop instincts to guide their music. A good chunk of their vibe also comes from guitarist-singer Ellie Roswell's charisma and her ability to open up her raw spots while she keeps her sardonic distance simultaneously. Their first album, My Love is Cool (2015) digs deeper into dream pop elements than their subsequent albums, while their second, Visions of a Life (2017), explores shoegaze.
