We Are Scientists

We Are Scientists is the duo Keith Murray and Chris Cain (a guitarist and bassist, respectively) who make highly melodic and energetic indie rock with a big sound and rousing choruses. They have a way of writing catchy party-time tunes and giving them arrangements that emphasize volume. The music is uptempo and lively with a "get up and start dancing" type feel, and it comes with the kind of bounciness that might be familiar from bands like Kaiser Chiefs, OK Go, and The Maccabees. Their earlier work had strong '80s style new wave and synth pop elements in it up until and including 2010's Barbara that still pops up in their music though in subtler ways nowadays. Their 2025 album Qualifying Miles, catches them moving towards a vintage '80s pop rock sound.
