War On Women

War on Women is a Baltimore based band that mixes elements of punk and hard rock to produce raw and loud music. Despite all the energy they release, the band actually plays with a lot of discipline and never quite sound like they are dancing at the edge of chaos. They are led by vocalist Shawna Porter, who brings strong riot grrrl vibes to the band as well as their highly political, feminist angle. Her delivery often has a punk edge to it. The guitar riffs, on the other hand, typically use the hard rock vocabulary with an occasional eye towards metal. They pack a mighty punch as an ensemble, from Porter's angry lyrics and furious vocals, to the scorching dual guitar action and the rush that comes from a top-notch bass and drums pairing that hammers away the grooves.
