Wand is a Los Angeles based psychedelic indie band whose music has gone through some change over time. They were pushing more overtly in the rock direction earlier in the mid to late '10s with swirling guitars and garage rock esthetics that gave them Tame Impala vibes, a bit on the harsher side, perhaps. They gradually opened up to a broader range of stylistic flavors, tapping into an expansive and misty sound in the Radiohead mold as well as an angular style where the band began to flex their art rock muscles. There are also traces of softer forms of glam on their 2019 album, Laughing Matter. That said, they have not fully backed out of their usual psychedelic core, which continue to be a prominent feature of their music.
