Taco Tapes

Taco Tapes is the duo of Ben Walden and Jeremy James Meyer, who took their inspiration from the recordings of Jerry Garcia and David Grisman when they started to play together. Their work is a mixture of traditional songs, covers, and originals. Their initial release, Trad Is Rad in 2021, was loaded with the former, driven by an old-timey instrumental back and forth between Walden and Meyer. 2023's Keep to the Shady Side, by contrast, was almost all originals, pushing for more variety and pulling from an array of styles that included blues, Latin, and jazz, as well as a generous serving of freak folk with country flavors. Their songs often come with a humorous, observational, though somewhat dark tone.
