Sweeping Promises

Sweeping Promises are the duo Lira Mondal and Caufield Schnug, who create lo-fi post-punk music with a jumpy, nervous flow and some indie rock highlights.  Mondal handles the bass, which plays the lead role in their songs while also providing a solid body at the bottom. She also delivers the vocals with a spot on voice for this style of music: she is precise and effective, she brings a lot of fizzy energy to the songs, and on top of that, she actually has a great voice (classically trained too). Schnug's guitars, meanwhile, mix jangly sound with a high ring, as he moves the songs along with skittish steps. Their songs are stacked with post-punk vibes, both in terms of their melodies and their execution, and they convey the band's sense of fun at every turn.
