Σtella

Σtella (= Stella with a sigma) is singer-songwriter, and visual artist Stella Chronopoulou, who goes by her first name stylized into her native Greek. For years, her music focused on mid-tempo synth oriented smooth pop that framed catchy grooves and warm melodies with mellow synth lines. This changed somewhat on 2022's Up and Away, produced by Redinho (= Tom Calvert), who encouraged her to bring in traditional Greek instrumentation (including a much-needed bouzouki action) and infuse her music with vintage Greek pop motifs. This led to a highly distinct tone in her songs that frequently stepped outside of mainstream pop boundaries, giving them a far richer texture. It also has the effect of adding a subtle and casual touch of melancholy, which is perhaps a bit par for the course, after all.
