Standing on the Corner

Standing on the Corner is an experimental group whose music is a fascinating mixture of styles and genres put together like an intricate collage containing R&B, hip-hop, pop, rock, and a good deal of jazz. They are an avant-garde ensemble led by Gio Escobar with a healthy aversion to genre boundaries. They came out with two successive albums in the late '10s that made a strong statement with respect to the band's intentions. The second of the two, Red Burns (2017) was designed as a long medley on both sides with sometimes jarring transitions that made for a fully unpredictable and highly rewarding listening experience. Their output has been sporadic since then.
