Soccer Mommy

Soccer Mommy is the stage name for singer/songwriter Sophie Allison, whose songs tend to vary between contemplative low-key ballads that are more lyrical than melodic in nature and mid-tempo pop songs reminiscent of a low-key, and a bit shy Liz Phair.  Her songwriting style has often turned on small gestures in the past, which contrasts to some extent with her current, bolder approach, and bigger arrangements. The underlying sense of fragility that is perhaps underscored by her hazy voice has remained intact though. She began to dive into the '90s style of music deeper in 2022's Sometimes Forever and started to experiment with a soft shoegaze sound that borders on a quiet dream pop, indicating a stylistic step forward for an artist who continues to evolve.
