Denzel Curry is a rapper from the Carol City neighborhood of Miami Gardens, Florida. Emerging from the South Florida Soundcloud rapper scene at age 18 with 2013's Nostalgic 64, Curry made a name for himself with his charisma, dark rhymes and clear talent for delivery and mastering multiple flows. Some of his later albums saw Curry trading personae, e.g., a ghoulish narrator of dark tales on 2018's TA13OO and a street-wise purveyor of trunk-thumpers on 2019's ZUU, but a more experimental streak took center stage starting with the 2 versions of the Unlocked album (co-starring Kenny Beats) and 2022's Melt My Eyez See Your Future in which he collaborates with such sought-after beat makers as Robert Glasper, Georgia Anne Muldrow, The Alchemist and Karriem Riggins. The resulting more varied and interesting accompaniment provides the perfect canvas for Curry to show his versatility and he doesn't disappoint.
