J.I.D

JID (stylized as J.I.D) is the moniker for Atlanta based hip-hop artist Destin Route whose music has clean, spacious arrangements that combine a thick bass sound and a laid back funk beats with short melodic passages on the keyboards to produce unhurried, deliberately paced grooves. He has a calm presence that generally avoids a bombastic tone even when he is on a rapid fire rapping mode. He is an excellent storyteller who constructs captivating narratives with subtlety as the centerpiece of his music. His rhyming prowess and use of complex schemes are often compared to Kendrick Lamar, which is also an apt comparison with respect to the attention he pays to the details of his production. He is one of the founders of the Spillage Village collective.
