Smote

Smote is the project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Daniel Foggin, whose music is firmly anchored to the concept of drone as he explores expansive soundscapes with a spacious flow to gradually crank up the tension towards a majestic build-up with metal type bursts. He is quite comfortable in his metal adjacent, heavy post-rock style that incorporates krautrock and psychedelic flavors as well. There are some distinctly British folk motifs that make their presence felt quite often in his music, sometimes overtly, other times woven into the fabric, so to speak. His pieces have a dark tone, for sure, and they typically evoke a sense of gloom and dark clouds hanging overhead, but they also feel organic and earthy, like he is anticipating a massive cloudburst.
