BIG | BRAVE

BIG | BRAVE, aka "Big Brave" (the pipe is silent) is a Montreal based band that combines the slow burning doom metal sound with expansive, drone-driven post-rock to create hefty music that also connects at an emotional level. They also bring Appalachian folk elements into their music with occasionally, where the melodic flow comes with a pastoral echo without losing any of those grinding, dirgy, metal tones and the underlying tension that continually builds. That said, their arrangements tend to be on the minimalistic side, heavy on guitar distortion and pedal effects, and less reliant on synths. Their experimental streak found its peak on 2025's OST, a record where the band went all improvisational, conceiving the album as the soundtrack for a non-existent film, which is what it feels like.
