Shaylee is a Portland, Oregon based indie trio led by the singer-songwriter and guitarist Elle Archer, and it used to be her stage name early on. She writes songs with a strong pop component that stylistically refers back to the classic British invasion era tones. The execution of the music shows influences of late '90s/early '00s style that balances memorable melodies and sweeping, passionate, but essentially gentle sound in the mold of The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse. Her earlier albums had a pronounced power pop meets punk pop quality, which is not too far from what the band is doing right now, except they feel more settled in. Archer has quite a presence on the guitar. She often writes about her personal experiences, guided a great deal by her growth as a trans woman.
