Camp Cope
Outline
Camp Cope is a Melbourne based indie rock trio whose melodies play out quite a bit in the singer-songwriter meets indie folk style. The band started out as an extension of singer/guitarist Georgia Maq's (née MacDonald) solo work and that blueprint pretty much still at work in their music. Her vocals are mostly what is at the driver's seat. The songs have a strong melodic core with a lot of emphasis on the lyrics, which Maq often yowls with an angst that stays close to the surface. Their instrumentation suggests significant influence of the guitar strumming folk-friendly strands of '90s alt-rock bands with relatively straightforward arrangements that allow the audience to focus more on the vocals and the lyrics.
Cayetana, Hop Along, Gang of Youths
Maq has released a number of solo albums, and so has Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich, as Kelso.
Maq also worked with Würst Nürse and Employment in the past.
