Renée Reed
Outline
Renée Reed is a folk artist and a singer-songwriter from Lafayette, Louisiana who has been deeply steeped in the Acadian (Cajun) musical culture, which expresses itself in subtle ways in her music. On the other hand, traces of her love for the French popular music from the '60s and '70s come out perhaps more frequently. Her arrangements are fairly sparse, where she is typically accompanied by a finger-picked solo guitar and not much else. There is a melancholic edge to a lot of her songs, which could be quite delicate and dream-like at times. She has a slightly breathy voice that connects with the listener at an intimate and personal level. A good number of her songs are in French.

She comes from a musically involved family: grandfather Harry Trahan was an accordion player that was a local zydeco legend, whileher great uncle Revon J. Reed and his brothers were members of Mamou, a Cajun band.
