Palmiyeler

Palmiyeler is a four piece indie pop band based in Istanbul that wraps their surf rock guitars with some psychedelic edge around a breezy melodic core. Their songs are mostly upbeat, mid to high tempo affairs that come with laid-back, sunshine-at-the-beach vibes. They are particularly good at establishing the groove, which can get quite dancey at times, and staying with it and letting the guitars do the additional flourishes. They play with a light touch, underscored by vocalist and main songwriter Mertbilek's somewhat thin, almost dreamy vocals on top. Their music has a fairly easy-going flow. Their dual guitars frequently reference classic Anatolian rock motifs (see Altın Gün, and earlier artists like Erkin Koray)  without going too far into that sound.
