Outer Shapes

Outer Shapes is the indie duo Laura Shkouratoff and C Santos, who take care of the power trio instrumentation between the two of them. Their music stays close to the middle ground between indie pop and quirky art pop effectively. A big part of that is their ability to create a strong melodic base to anchor their songs, which they embellish with somewhat edgy instrumentation that provides an additional oomph without undermining that sweet core they have in the middle. Their recordings up to this point suggest a trajectory towards a bolder sound that takes on a more contemporary and exploratory tone. Shkouratoff's vocals are quite expressive, with a delivery that fairly effortlessly swings between indie pop and pop rock.
