Kelly Lee Owens

Kelly Lee Owens is an electronic artist from Wales whose music has recently shifted towards an experimental and abstract style with dissonance and tension replacing her earlier calling card, which was a combination of mid to low tempo EDM beats with techno textures and soft pop hooks. Before 2022's LP.8, her music often felt like ballads situated somewhere between melodic ambient and less trippy trip-hop. With LP.8, her sound is decidedly edgy, positioning industrial noise elements against softer ambient sounds, achieving in the kind of Throbbing Gristle/Enya mixture she was reportedly going for. She continues to use her voice, which has an ethereal but a little distant quality that adds a strong dream pop dimension to her music.
