Bonobo

Bonobo is the moniker for electronic musician and multi-instrumentalist Simon Green, who is originally from Brighton, England, but currently based in Los Angeles. He has been producing a less mechanical and more groove-driven semi-ambient music since the early '00s. He started out with strong trip-hop leanings, which never quite went away over the years, but was augmented by idioms of post-fusion jazz, acid jazz, soundscapes that gravitate towards ambient in subsequent albums. Bonobo's music generally threads the needle between the tightness and neatness of electronic music and the warm and messy nature of traditional music. What he finds in that balance is inventive compositions, curiosity, diverse textures, and consistently captivating music that often goes beyond the house music label.
