Caribou is a moniker used by producer, singer, and electronic artist Dan Snaith, who makes downtempo music dominated by dance friendly grooves. He often makes use of samples and loops in his music, creates hazy and reverb filled effects around his falsetto voice, which comes across as a bit of a remnant from his earlier work where he was often drifting towards a distinct mixture of dream pop, krautrock, trip-hop, and psychedelic pop sounds. He began to change with 2020's Swim into a more electronic and dancy ground which eventually gave way to his current style: Synth-heavy music with nice organic textures that sometimes progresses like a choppy version of Boards of Canada. There is a somewhat melancholic tone that is prevalent in his songs, rather than the kind of exuberance that his use of otherwise bright sounds would suggest.
