Open Head

Open Head is a band whose music is steeped in a noise infused no wave sound that aligns well with some of their contemporaries like YHWH Nailgun and Pop Music Fever Dream. The band started out with a fairly chaotic streak on their debut album Joy and Other Sufferings (2022), where they kept it aggressive and abrasive, and let their dual guitar set up provide a dissonant 1-2 punch. After that, they began to amp up the post-punk component of their sound, and added more angularity to their jagged flow. The dissonance is still there, to be sure. So is their scrappy and assertive style. Their experimental mindset expands on their second album What Is Success (2025) where they take more advantage of studio effects.
