Splitting the difference between indie rock and electronic music, Miss Grit, aka singer-songwriter Margaret Sohn, remains fluid across genres. Their music is strong on atmospherics with the electronic component serving as the backbone, more or less, and their serene vocals helping cement the mood setting. They also add the fuzzy guitar motifs and occasional bursts of noise, which provide the accent and the emotional tension that break the hypnotic flow. Their voice remains calm and pure through all that, and to be sure, it is an outstanding voice that is hard to miss. There are some clearly identifiable St. Vincent influences on their music in terms of the feel of the melodies, their use of the guitar, the sturdy beats, and their overall presentation.
