The Men
Outline
The Men are a Brooklyn-based band who has been putting out albums since 2009. They have gone through a number of line-up changes as well as stylistic shifts that may be a little challenging to track sometimes. Their initial jam was to blend hardcore, doom metal, and other forms noisy, discordant music that also featured instances of slightly apocalyptic howling. The album where they broadened their horizon was 2012's Open Your Heart, where the band still rocked hard and tore it up in the noise department, but they also laid down tracks of post-rock drones and Neu! style motorik beats. They even provided an early glimpse of their country-inspired indie rock phase that was to come soon after. From there on out they had some back and forth between more melodic rock that ranged from indie rock to roots rock to country rock on the one hand, and punk inspired hardcore adjacent aggressive tones on the other.
