Mal Blum

Mal Blum is an indie singer/guitarist from Brooklyn who plays indie rock with folk and Americana accents, sliding towards country in some cases. Some of their work leans more in the pop and pop punk direction, perhaps with a touch of emo to tie things together. Their songs tend to be highly personal in nature, with a fair amount of sharp self-dissection, though with a healthy dose of self-deprecating humor that hints at a deeper backstory not shared yet. They tend to keep their instrumentation fairly straightforward and effective, the songs, melodically strong, and the arrangements, quite propulsive when they are ready to rock out. They sing in a sweet and firm voice and have a conversational style in their vocals.
