Little Mazarn
Outline
Little Mazarn is a folk trio that loves to operate on a lower gear in the way they prefer to keep their songs hushed and slowed down for the most part. They are led by multi-instrumentalist singer Lindsey Verrill, the primary songwriter of the outfit. She is accompanied by the musical saw of Jeff Johnston with its ghostly, sometimes wailing tones, and another singer-multi-instrumentalist in Carolina Chauffe, aka hemlock. Their songs are sedate, happy to sit in the silent space between the notes, and flow like they are taking a deep breath. They broke their pattern somewhat on their 2025 album Mustang Island, where they expanded their sound by adding synths and drums and veering towards a pop texture on some of the tracks.
Verill has played with McMercy Family Band, Some Say Leland, and Dana Falconberry & Medicine Bow.
Chauffe also performs as hemlock.
