Letting Up Despite Great Faults is a band that combines dream pop with some of the elements from the '80s style new wave and post-punk music, appearing to be influenced by bands like New Order and The Cure (the Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me period for the latter). Their soft spot for fuzzing up their guitars has the effect of taking their otherwise warm and mellow sound much closer to shoegaze without actually crossing the line. They also seem partial to creating dance grooves with a strong beat. The band is led by vocalist, guitarist, and their main songwriter Mike Lee, who delivers the songs with a soft, hushed voice as the guitars swirl around him gently. The second guitarist Annah Fisette occasionally joins Lee on the singing duties.
