Kiwi Jr. is an indie pop band that produces uptempo and lively songs with satirical lyrics. Their style comes across as a mesh of Pavement and the jangle pop of the late '80s (see Robyn Hitchcok and others). Singer Jeremy Gaudet has the type of amused twinkle in his vocals that is reminiscent of Stephen Malkmus in his Pavement years. In the midst of the jangly and upbeat guitars, as well as the bass that frames the melodies and the drums that are locked into the beat, the members play up the catchiness of the songs with gusto. Their melodies are pretty consistently infectious. The songs are loaded with hooks and the band seems to be cranking them out like the finely tuned pop engine that they are.
